IT’S THE BEGINNING of September, and at Vancouver’s Southlands Riding Club, a group of adults wearing helmets and face masks are gathered in a large outdoor horse ring just south of the riding track. Strewn across the soft mulch are rows of objects—jumping poles laid in zigzag formations, plastic cones, flags, hoola hoops, and balls.
